Timing buffered disk reads: 182 MB in 3.03 seconds = 60.15 MB/sec
linux-xo30:~ # /sbin/hdparm -Tt /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 1584 MB in 2.00 seconds = 792.48 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 182 MB in 3.02 seconds = 60.17 MB/sec
linux-xo30:~ # /sbin/hdparm -Tt /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 1522 MB in 2.00 seconds = 760.62 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 182 MB in 3.03 seconds = 60.16 MB/sec

Run 3 times and take the average.

Change sda to hda if you use IDE disk. Change sda to sda1,sda2…. if you want to check specific partition.
