Zynga (/ˈzɪŋɡə/) is a provider of social game services located in San Francisco, California. The company develops games that work both stand-alone on mobile phone platforms such as Apple iOS and Android and as application widgets on its website, Zynga.com, and social networking websites such as Facebook, Google+, and Tencent. Zynga states its mission as “Connecting the world through games.”
As of late July 2012, Zynga’s games had over 306 million monthly active users. Four of Zynga’s games, ChefVille, Zynga Poker, Words with Friends, and Bubble Safari, have the most daily active users on Facebook, with ChefVille having over 7.2 million daily active users.
Zynga began trading on NASDAQ December 16, 2011 under ticker ZNGA. Originally priced at $10, ZNGA shares reached a price of $14.50 in March 2012, but have fallen steadily since that point, hitting $3 in July 2012.
