Fifteen years in the making, everyone’s favorite software to run Windows programs on Linux and Unix, Wine, is almost ready for its 1.0 release.If all goes well, Alexandre Julliard, Wine’s lead developer, says that Wine 1.0 should appear on June 20, two weeks after the program’s fifteenth birthday.

wine-1.0rc1 was released on Friday, May 9th, 2008. Wine is now in a code freeze in preparation for the 1.0 release. According to the Wine Release Plan, wine-1.0.0-rc2 will be due out Friday, May 23rd, 2008. It will be something like be the next to last release candidate for 1.0… Full 1.0 bug list and further information provided.
