A late-February storm has brought more than a foot of snow to much of Maine, leaving nearly 100,000 homes and businesses without power and canceling classes at hundreds of schools.
The storm that arrived late Sunday dumped heavy wet snow in the overnight hours, snapping tree limbs and utility lines. According to the National Weather Service, the deepest totals were recorded in western Maine, where Bridgton got 25 inches and Jay received 22 inches.
Central Maine Power said that at least 83,800 homes and businesses were without power as of 5 a.m. …
