Back in October, we covered the case of Joel Tenenbaum, a Boston graduate student accused by the RIAA of sharing copyrighted music as “sublimeguy14” on KaZaA. Tenenbaum did not go quietly into that dark night; instead, he offered the RIAA a settlement of $500. The music lobby declined, and it took Tenenbaum to court.

NORWALK, Conn., April 10, 2008  — Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) and representatives of a class of current and former African-American sales representatives have settled a class action lawsuit brought in May 2001. The plaintiffs alleged race discrimination with respect to sales territory assignments, quotas and compensation. U.S. District Judge John Gleeson gave preliminary approval to the proposed settlement.Xerox adamantly denies that it engaged in any policy or practice of unlawful discrimination or retaliation, or any other unlawful conduct. HP today announced it has reached a settlement with Maxicom PC Inc., its owner-operators, and a sales representative who were defendants in gray market litigation that HP filed in February in a Florida federal court.
HP sought to recover more than $4 million in pricing discounts for computer equipment that Maxicom PC had received based on misrepresentations that the equipment would be resold to specified end-user customers.
