PETALING JAYA: The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) has appointed C. J. Ang as its president. He is the first to hold that position.

The president’s job is to to enhance Pikom’s capability to take the Malaysian information and communications technology (ICT) industry to new heights, in support of the Government’s drive towards a knowledge-based economy.

“I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to Pikom’s member companies, our community, and our country,” said Ang, 55. He has 31 years experience in the information technology industry.

Ang’s career started with Computer Systems Adviser in 1976, and he has held top management positions in IBM Malaysia, Compaq Computer Malaysia (now part of HP Malaysia), IT Partners Sdn Bhd, and Cuscapi Bhd (formerly Datascan Bhd).

Pikom chairman David Wong Nan Fay said the association is confident that Ang will help it attain its goals.
