ATI PowerXpress Now Delivering Increased Graphics Performance and Energy Efficiency to Notebook Consumers

Fujitsu-Siemens First to Ship Notebooks with ATI PowerXpress

Computex, TAIPEI — June 4, 2008 —AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that ATI PowerXpress™ users can double or triple the performance of the integrated graphics processor1 when plugged into a wall socket or extend their battery life by over an hour while on the go2. Previously announced earlier this year as a variant of ATI Hybrid Graphics Technology for notebook computers, ATI PowerXpress allows notebook users to manually or automatically switch between an ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3400 series discrete graphics processor and an integrated AMD M780G with ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 graphics without rebooting their notebook. ATI PowerXpress features can also be accessible and user configurable via the Catalyst™ Control Center. The first notebooks to take advantage of ATI PowerXpress are available from Fujitsu-Siemens Computers.

“For our AMILO Xa notebooks with the AMD graphics technology of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series we implemented the ATI PowerXPress feature,” said Hartmut Woerrlein, Senior Director Product Management Consumer Mobile, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “For the consumer it’s a real advantage in their practical experience to switch between maximum graphic performance and maximum battery life, on the go and without restarting the whole system.”

“With ATI PowerXpress, we’re addressing that traditional notebook trade-off, giving people the flexibility to play high quality 3D games or watch HD movies when plugged in and still enjoy long lasting battery life in transit,” said Ben Bar-Haim, vice president of software, Graphics Products Group, AMD. “Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ deployment of these new features to European consumers demonstrates a forward looking design philosophy that delivers on their mobile computing needs.”
