Las Vegas, January 7, 2008 - BitTorrent Inc., the global standard for high-quality content delivery on the Internet, today announced it has partnered with industry-leading hardware manufacturers in the Network Attached Storage (NAS) and consumer router markets as it expands its family of BitTorrent Device Partners. NETGEAR® (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking solutions, is working with BitTorrent to improve the digital home entertainment experience. By collaborating with a range of partners including hardware manufacturers, software providers, and chipmakers, BitTorrent adds value through embedded software, device certification and content delivery to enhance and simplify the consumer experience.

Driven by the growth of high-speed broadband and consumer demand for more robust home networking solutions and network storage capacity, the NAS and router markets will continue to see healthy growth. Simultaneously, BitTorrent users are increasingly utilizing these devices to store their massive digital entertainment libraries and easily access and share content throughout the home. BitTorrent is addressing this demand by offering its Software Development Kit (SDK) for consumer electronics (CE) devices, as well as certifying BitTorrent-optimized devices through the BitTorrent Certified Program.

The goal of bringing together official BitTorrent Device Partners, established in 2007, is to work with a wide-array of hardware, middleware and application providers along the entire CE value chain to create next-generation consumer experiences with BitTorrent’s leading peer-assisted content delivery. The BitTorrent SDK for Devices is the official BitTorrent release for embedded devices representing the latest in BitTorrent protocol enhancements and compatible with all standard PC clients. With BitTorrent’s newest SDK offering, NAS companies will also be provided a ready-made reference implementation for users to control and access their NAS device via a web interface.

BitTorrent Certification for routers seeks to ensure the best possible consumer experience by minimizing the need for users to actively manage their router settings. Many routers are already capable of good results, but require too much work to configure for performance and security. BitTorrent has established a set of best practices and standard networking settings that simplify setup to enable top performance.

BitTorrent’s president and co-founder Ashwin Navin is delivering the keynote address at DCIA’s 1st Annual P2P Summit taking place on January 6, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall.
